About The Author

The following is a short biographical sketch of the author of divinesatisfaction.com:

Daniel Comings was born to Pastor Harold and Judy Comings.    After moving to Tuscarora, New York when Daniel was three years old, he grew up as the third of four children in a pastor’s home.  Daniel was quite obviously not a perfect child as both of his parents and all three of his siblings will willingly attest, but the influence of his Christian parents would lay important foundations in his life.  Being a pastor’s son meant that Daniel was always involved in church functions.  Pastor Comings was also involved in ministry at Lamoka Baptist Camp, a ministry that would have long term effects on Daniel, the most important being when Daniel was saved by God’s grace after a chapel service.  From ages 8 to 14 Daniel was a camper at Lamoka Baptist Camp and then from age 15 to 23 he would be involved in Camp ministry each summer : two years as a snack shack worker, five years as a counselor (one of those years at Camp Sparta) and two years as an assistant director.

The first few years working at camp were viewed mostly as a fun summer job.  It wasn’t until his second year at Spurgeon Baptist Bible College that God awakened him to the realization that camp, or youth ministry was his God-given passion.  This wasn’t a “road to Damascus experience” and the road to full acceptance of this calling had really just begun.  One of the main hurdles that had to be overcome was the ever present guilt of selfish sin that had become a part of Daniel’s life.  During his years at Spurgeon God allowed for some major failures in Daniel’s life to bring him under the mentoring discipleship of Pastor Richard Piatt.  The battle against sin and selfishness is a life-long battle and this accountability and discipleship relationship marked one of the many turning points that brought Daniel to where he is today.  God provided Daniel with many other allies in this fight to live God glorifying life: his father, his brothers, and many friends. But on February 1, 2003 Daniel married the young lady who would become his chief ally in his desire to bring glory to God in every area of his life: Emily.

Emily and Daniel began not only a life together, but also began ministry together as Daniel began to work part-time with the children and youth ministries at Fellowship Baptist Church in 2003, and then in 2005 Fellowship Baptist Church called Daniel to come on full-time.  During this time a new dimension, education, was added to the accountability and discipleship relationship that Daniel had with his now father-in-law and boss Pastor Piatt.   Pastor Piatt exposed Daniel to educational conferences such as the Ligonier conference, Shepherds Conference and T4G.  Hours would be spent in offices, around dinner tables or living rooms discussing theological and church related matters.  Instruction was given in counseling, preaching, teaching and even animal behavior (and how it relates to creation, sin and man).  This mini-seminary experience along with growth in his spiritual life brought Daniel to the point where he recognized that God’s calling in his life was not to be a temporary ministry, but a life-time calling to preach the gospel.

Serving the youth of Fellowship Baptist Church has given Daniel multiple opportunities to lead missions trips both in the United States and Internationally.  These trips have allowed Daniel and the participants many opportunities to see how the body of Christ is active in different countries and cultures and to minister alongside of these fellow believers.

Daniel and Emily have always desired to adopt a child into their home, and in 2009 they began the adoption process through Florida Baptist Children’s Home.  God’s timing was wonderfully different than theirs however and in September of 2010 Daniel and Emily discovered they were pregnant.  After several months of excited anticipation Rosalie Grace Comings was welcomed into the world on April 30, 2011.  Rosalie begins a new chapter in the already blessing filled life that God is giving to Daniel and Emily.

Lord willing Daniel and Emily will be able to restart the adoption process in 2012 or as God directs.
